DAY 1

Arrival & Sanje Waterfalls Hike

Arrive at Udzungwa Mountains National Park and begin with the popular Sanje Waterfalls hike. This moderate 4-hour round trip takes you through lush forest to three stunning waterfalls with swimming opportunities in natural plunge pools.

Accommodation: Udzungwa Forest Camp or Hondo Hondo

Wildlife Viewing
DAY 2

Hidden Valleys Trail & Wildlife Spotting

Full day exploring the Hidden Valleys Trail, searching for endemic species like the Udzungwa red colobus monkey and Sanje crested mangabey. The trail offers excellent birdwatching opportunities with over 400 bird species recorded.

Mwanihana Peak
DAY 3

Mwanihana Peak Challenge

Challenging full-day hike to Mwanihana Peak (2,150m), the second highest point in the range. The trail passes through various vegetation zones with spectacular viewpoints. Return to camp for overnight.

Challenge: 8-10 hour strenuous hike
Village Visit
DAY 4

Lumeno Trail & Village Visit

Gentler hike along the Lumeno Trail with opportunities to visit local villages and learn about conservation efforts. Afternoon transfer back to park gate or optional extension to other parks.

Accommodation: Not included (can arrange nearby lodge)
Culture: Interact with local communities

Wildlife & Nature

The park is home to 11 primate species including the endemic Udzungwa red colobus and Sanje crested mangabey. Over 400 bird species have been recorded, including several endemics. The diverse habitats range from lowland rainforest to montane forest and grassland.
